All India Yogasana Competitions

Vision & Purpose

The All India Yogasana Competitions aim to:

  • Promote yogasana as a competitive sport.

  • Foster physical and mental well-being across all age groups.

  • Encourage widespread participation and global interest in yogasana.


Competition Categories

The competition consists of three main categories:

1. Single Yogasana (Group A)
  • Separate events for Men & Women.

  • Individual performance of yogasanas.

2. Pair Yogasana (Group B)
  • Separate events for Men & Women.

  • Two participants perform together.

  • Mixed-gender pairings are not allowed.

3. Group Yogasana (Group C)
  • Separate events for Men & Women.

  • Group size: 3 to 6 participants.

  • Mixed-gender teams are not allowed.


General Rules & Guidelines

  • Gender Segregation: Separate events for men and women.
  • No Mixed-Gender Pairs/Groups: To ensure fairness.
  • Props Not Allowed: No external support items.
  • Greeting Gesture: Participants must begin their performance with “Namaste”.

Detailed Guidelines for Each Category

Group A – Single Yogasana

1. Age Groups

2. Performance Rules
  • Number of Asanas: 7 Asanas (5 compulsory + 2 optional).

  • Duration: 150 – 180 seconds total.

  • Each posture must be held for 5 – 7 seconds.

3. Compulsory Asanas (Men & Women)
  1. Vibhakta Paschimottanasana

  2. Purna Matsyendrasana

  3. Purna Chakrasana

  4. Sarvangasana

  5. Natarajasana

4. Optional Asanas (Choose 2)

Men’s Optional Asanas:

  1. Mayurasana

  2. Urdhva Kukkutasana

  3. Hanumanasana

  4. Tittibhasana

  5. Purna Dhanurasana

  6. Vrischikasana

  7. Purna Shalabhasana

  8. Omkarasana

Women’s Optional Asanas:
  1. Purna Bhujangasana

  2. Ardha Badha Padmottanasana

  3. Ekapad Rajkapotasana

  4. Ekapad Shirasana

  5. Urdhva Mukha Paschimottanasana

  6. Vishwamitrasana

  7. Karna Pidasana

  8. Bakasana


Group B – Pair Yogasana

1. Age Requirement
  • Participants must be 18 years & above.

2. Performance Rules
  • Time Duration: 150 – 180 seconds.

  • Pairs must be of the same gender.

  • No props allowed.

  • Greeting Gesture: Perform “Namaste” before starting.

3. Music Guidelines

 Allowed: Meditation, Instrumental, Folk, Devotional, Patriotic music.
 Not Allowed: Rock, Pop, or any inappropriate music.

4. Music Submission
  • Must be on a USB drive.

  • Only one track, with no additional recordings.

  • Submit the USB to the stage manager before the performance.


Group C – Group Yogasana

1. Age Requirement
  • Participants must be 18 years & above.

2. Performance Rules
  • Group size: Minimum 3, Maximum 6 participants.

  • Time Duration: 150 – 180 seconds.

  • No props allowed.

  • Greeting Gesture: Perform “Namaste” before starting.

3. Music Guidelines

 Allowed: Meditation, Instrumental, Folk, Devotional, Patriotic music.
 Not Allowed: Rock, Pop, or any inappropriate music.

4. Music Submission
  • Must be on a USB drive.

Awards & Certificates

Participation Certificate: Every participant will receive a certificate of participation.

Top Three Awards: The top three performers in each category will be awarded prizes in recognition of their exceptional skills, technique, creativity, and overall performance.

Consolation Prizes: Two consolation prizes will be awarded in each category.

Single Yogasana Event: In each age group, the top three performers will receive prizes, along with two consolation prizes.

Additional Information: All further event details will be shared 15 days prior to the competition.
